I Didn't Think It Could Get Worse

This is my neighbors yard...about a year ago.
Let's just say it's not my taste. My yard may look a little crazy at times with toys, bikes, balls, sports equiptment and the occasional plastic water bottle laying around. And, okay, fine, I have left the new phone book laying in the driveway for a day or two, once or twice. But this...this...this is just beyond all understanding! This is my neighbors yard 3 days ago:

I found the cutest little gnome at a yard sale last week. DH would have had a heart attack if I had put it in our yard sooo, just for fun, I decided to share it with the neighbor.

It's not there anymore. The gnome must have ticked off the flamingos. I hear gnomes are quite the practical jokers. Flamingos must not have a sense of humor. Shame. Prissy little things.

Old Business

I've been in a creative hole and the blogging spark has passed me by. I have too many irons in the fire and I can't get inspired. Usually, the best way to get out is to just DO IT. So, I'm just doing it. Here are some pics from the last month.

Picture stolen off Julia's blog:

5th Grade band getting ready to perform:

Christmas play and snow party:

The only kind of snow I like-it's pretty much plastic. Plastic snow rocks!

We went to my mom's house for Christmas. My kids just love her jacuzzi tub. A little scarey, this...We hadn't seen the cats for a while...got a little worried:

We went camping New Year's Eve:

Hey. Little girl. GET OUT OF MY TENT.

We had quite the awesome fire. There were kids scrounging firewood for hours:

Adios 2008! Come February I'll be ready for 2009~

99th Post

Only one more post and that makes a hundred. I never thought I'd have that much to say. I'm not particularly wordy. It's been fun. People do 'special' things for their 100th post. I ain't got nuttin'. Give me some ideas please.

I had a fun, busy weekend-can't wait til Monday to rest.

Friday was shopping. Julia came in. She can make me laugh in a second. My guts hurt she makes me laugh so much. Put her and her mother together, I'm through. There were just too many queens in the room. Sorry ladies: my pic, my blog, I get to be the pretty one.
Saturday was a school fundraiser. The kids do a show and then parents/grandparents are robbed blind via auctions, raffles, and games.

The biggest hit is Asian Ping Pong. Kids chuck ping pong balls in little bowls and win fish. We wind up with lots of fish that are usually dead by morning. This year my kids managed to get 10 fish (they were a steal at about 5 bucks each!). So far, so good-they are all still alive. We spent the day cleaning out the big fish tank-hopefully some will survive another night and make it to the big tank tomorrow.

For all the cash these fish cost we should at least be able to eat them.

Ya Just Gotta Love a Man in a Jumpsuit...

Especially Bond...James Bond. Click on the link below to enjoy a bell-bottomed jumpsuit clad man (or 3) in platform heels. The hilarity begins around :53

I know it's easy to crack me up, but isn't that one of the reasons you all love me so much?

And look what station I found on my radio this morning:

BTW, Does anyone know where I can pick one of these outfits up? DH would love one for Christmas. Bwah ha ha ha!

Thanksgiving Weekend

I'm a little behind-a little in denial that Christmas is coming so quickly. The draft of this post has been waiting to be completed for over a week now. I'm hoping that once I finish this Thanksgiving post I'll be ready to move on. We'll see.
The girl made deviled eggs-she loves deviled eggs:
And then she turned them pink:
I love pink. Most things are much more fabulous when they're pink. I think deviled eggs are an exception to the 'things-are-much-more-fabulous-when-they're-pink' rule. They did taste good.
We made a cake. This was not an aesthetically pleasing Thanksgiving.

This litte guy is pretty cute though:

Here's everybody-ready to eat:

The Saturday after Thanksgiving DH took the kids squirrel hunting while I was doing a little hunting of my own. They had fun. There was a little queasiness with kid #2 when it came to cleaning the squirrels, but #1 and #3 had no problems with that part. I had never eaten squirrel and dumplings-I was willing to try it. I made the dumplings even. I kinda thought it would be like chicken and dumplings-just hunks of meat, but no. Squirrels really aren't that meaty. I'm fine with not eating squirrel ever again.
Sunday we had a firing range in the yard. They are all getting to be pretty good shots. The boys have been saving soda bottles full of water to use as targets-they had a lot:

Firing range:

No, they aren't doing this alone. DH is teaching every second they are out there!

The girl even had to dress for the event-she borrowed camo from her brother:
